Cast and ready to be set

Here it is, waiting for the stones I'll be setting into it. I am planning to put alexandrite in the center and CZ's on the sides.

My internship has been pretty much been finalized. I begin on August eighth, three days a week. When I picked up my ring David showed me some of the projects he was working on. I watched him set thousands of dollars worth of diamonds flawlessly into both gold and platinum rings. I can't wait until I am able to do things like that.

Printed, ready to cast

So here it is, finally. David, the jeweler who has the equipment to produce stuff like this is also having the ring cast for me in silver. After that I just have to get the cz's and alexandrite I want to set and it will finally be completely done. As an added bonus David asked me if I would want to come in and work with him. It'll be a little bit of a commute, but this is an opportunity I will not pass up. Plus it will be an internship getting me the final credits I need to graduate.

Its finally done!

My first real attempt at producing a printable ring from rhino is finally complete. I just got off the phone with David Dorian from 3Dworks and it will be printed in wax this weekend. I even get to go see the machine in action when I pick it up.

Heres what it looks like:

1st place in my category in the Bridge

I can"t believe it! I took home first place in the three dimensional design and mixed media category for my mokume tigers eye pendant. I had known the the coral and pearl piece got in but not until they called my name to present me the award did I know about this.

My set of four elemental rings got into the art show and received honorable mention, and I received the Dr. Robert A. Daniel award in art for all my work in jewelry.

All in all it was a pretty fantastic day! This all just makes me itch to get back into my studio. After I graduate in May I plan on working all this summer to produce a new body of work.

BSC Art Show submissions

I submitted a bunch of my work to the art show at school on Thursday including my latest ring modeled in Rhino.



My teacher, Rob Lorenson, helped me render it in Bryce and it looks awesome now. I was amazed at how easy to use Bryce was in comparison to rendering in Rhino and Maya.
